Limão no aroma e alguma fruta cozida escondida.

Viciante.

Classificação:

I dunk this one time and time again during 2015. For me, it is probably the best value for the money South African sparkling wine.

Made of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.

Lemon and some hidden stewed fruit in the aromas.

Easy to drink, volume-full, structured, lemon zest, some dried fruits in the mix. It glues to the tongue and becomes highly addictive.

Boplaas the Chocolate 2010

Second charge on what it seems the best South African producer of fake Port Wine.

Aromas full of milk chocolate and figs.

In the mouth reveals figs, chocolate and blackberries. It is not very sweet, it does not saturate the tongue and it does nor use spells. It suffers from the capital sin of being diffuse and lacks typical Port Wine layered complexity. Ends long and tasting to chocolate buttons.

Rating:

Mellasat White Pinotage 2014

Aromas a pêssego, bagas amarelas e melão.

No fim fica picante. Final longo e em turbilhão.

Classificação:

There is nothing like to taste a white wine made with a red grape. This one is made from Pinotage.

Peach, gooseberries and melon in the aroma.

It is fat and trim at the same time. Tropical character with some cream and some fictional fruit pulp. It resembles an ice cream with salt on top. It is lovely the chemical transformation, rather than the taste. In the end becomes spicy. Ends long like a hurricane.

Sijnn 2009

Sedoso e explosivo. Cola-se à língua, muita ginja, alguma ameixa, madeira, tabaco e baunilha. Tudo muito bem empacotado. Rico, forte, rijo, apimentado e gordo.

Final longo, abaunilhado, quente e com pimenta. Nunca mais acaba.

Classificação:

One time I had to get here. Sijnn planted Portuguese grape varieties such as Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz and Trincadeira, because one day they discovered a plot of land similar to what they found in Portugal a few years ago. Despite having in the past contact with Portuguese grape varieties in South African wines that revealed a not so encouraging experience, here I bring you the first journey with Portuguese grape varieties blend - still missing one that is made from Touriga Nacional - that proved to be an authentic surprise.

Made from Syrah, Mourvèdre, Touriga Nacional, Trincadeira and Cabernet Sauvignon.

The aromas are black. Woody toast, tobacco box, plum, penetrates inside the body. There are also dark cherries.

Silky and explosive. Sticks in the tongue, lots of dark cherries, some plum, oak, tobacco and vanilla. Rich, strong, hard, spicy and fat.

Long warm finish with vanilla and pepper. It never ends.

Iona Pinot Noir Limited Edition 2012

Aromas a tabaco e cereja.

Cereja seca e bagas vermelhas, picam as malvadas.

Termina picante e ligeiramente seco.

Classificação:

Engin valley is the place which the best South African Pinot Noirs are born. Iona is one of the best producers that can bring to life this kind of wines, which I told you about it before related with the amazing One Man Band.

Tobacco and cherries aromas.

Super organic, you can fell the soil running away from your feet, smoked oak enters inside your mouth when we are hoovering the wine. Dried cherries and red berries that spike from the inside. The wine seems watery, but it is not a defect it is its character.

Ends spicy and slightly dry.

Idiom Viognier 2012

Aromas a ameixa amarela, ananás, alperce madurinho e mel. Que foco.

O vinho tem ondulação. Sal e fruta, fruta e sal. Dado à lambarice, cheio de rebuçado de ananás, ameixa amarela ultra madura, e alperce escondido. Podia ser um pouco menos açucarado.

Termina longo.

Classificação: ★★

To complete the Idiom portfolio, I stumbled in the Viognier single variety.

Aromas composed of yellow plum, pineapple, ripe apricot and honey. Focused and sharp.

This wine is full of waves. Salt and fruit, fruit and salt. Vicious and addictive, full of pineapple sweets, ripe yellow plum and hidden apricot. It could have a little bit less sugar.

Ends long.
