Contemporal Selection 2012 Branco

Os supermercados Pingo Doce foram percursores na introdução de vinhos com mão própria. Os puristas olharam com desdém mas o consumidor não e alguns produtores foram sábios o suficiente para em troca de vender com menos margem, escoarem o produto.

O vinho que vos trago aqui, é um sucesso de vendas dos supermercados Continente, feito de Chardonnay, Arinto, Verdelho e Fernão Pires.

Muito aromático, induz a provar sem receios. Marcado pelos aromas de pêssego e pão com manteiga.

Na boca parece que ficamos besuntados, estamos a comer pão com planta a sabor a manteiga, ligeiramente encorpado, vivo e direito ao assunto. Focado na fruta madura, maioritariamente pêra e pêssego.

Final médio com algum balsâmico .

Pingo Doce (a local retail store chain in Portugal) were the first to introduce "brand-less" wines. The wine addicts and "connoisseurs" could not believe what the market was turning into, and raised a lot of questions regarding the blends, the signature, who was involved, etc.

This wine I brought were is a sales success in Continente retail stores. its made from a  blend of   Chardonnay, Arinto, Verdelho and Fernão Pires.

It's very aromatic, it puts a spell to taste it. It haves peach, pear and bread and butter.

In the mouth it's juicy, with our lips full of flavor, seems we are eating in the beginning bread with a butter substitute. Medium bodied, lives and goes straight to the point. Focused in ripe fruit, mainly pear and peach.

Medium finish with some balsamic notes.

Paulo Laureano Clássico 2012 Branco

Feito de Antão Vaz e Roupeiro.

Aroma jovem, Cheio de citrinos.

Na boca maioritariamente cítrico. Está cheio de vida e termina com a típica mistura de abacaxi maduro do Antão Vaz que o torna baço.

Final médio.

Mais um branco sem história.

Made from Antão Vaz and Roupeiro.

Light aromas. Full of citric character.

In the mouth is mostly citric. It's has life and ends with the typical nonsense and dull ripe pineapple that Antão Vaz lends.

Medium finish.

Quinta do Ameal Loureiro 2011 Branco

Monocasta feito a partir de Loureiro.


Aromas a flores e algum alperce no fundo.

Na boca é ultra leve e seco podia ter um pouco mais de acidez. Sabor dominado pelos cristais e pelo alperce seco no fundo. É preciso puxar pela imaginação para tentar descobrir ao que sabe.

Final médio.

Bom como entrada para mariscos frescos. Mas tem sérias dificuldades para tudo o resto.

Single wine variety made from Loureiro.

Flowers in the aroma and some apricot underneath.

In the mouth it's ultra light and dry. Could have more life. Lot's of mineral crystals and apricot in the bottom. It's necessary to make a lot of effort to try to figure it out what it's the taste of it.

Medium finish.

Pairs with sea food or to drink solo, but cannot make it at the table if different kind of food.

Herdade do Gamito 2007 Tinto

Feito a partir de Syrah, Alicante Bouchet, Merlot e Aragonês.

Aromas densos. Madeira, baunilha e alguma fruta compotada.

Seco e pujante, muito bem mergulhado em madeira e pimenta. Há Brandy e fruta envergonhada, mas isto é mais um vinho com perfil Claude Montana anos 90, do que outra coisa. Há Baunilha no fim suficiente para fazer chocolate Regina.

Final médio.

Made from a blend of Syrah, Alicante Bouchet, Merlot and Aragonês.

Dense aroma. Oak, vanilla, and some ripe fruit.

Dry and full of power, vigorous, deep fried in oak and pepper. some Brandy and the fruit is hidden. This is a Claude Montana perfume of the 90´s. There is vanilla in the end that can be used to make chocolate bar.

Medium finish.

Tons De Duorum 2012 Branco

O mercado tem destas coisas. Cria-se uma onda em torno de um produto, principalmente pelos prescritores e rapidamente todos aplaudem o resultado. Este vinho é feito de Viosinho, Rabigato, Verdelho, Arinto e Moscatel Galego.


Apresenta aromas muito leves de fruta tropical, são nuances apenas, parece mais ser um Alvarinho do que outra coisa.

Na boca é de corpo leve, ligeiramente para o seco, um pouco murchito, anda lá no início alguma fruta tropical com final muito acentuado a limão puro e duro e ainda algum sal. Tem frescura, e essências.

Final médio.

O que dizer deste vinho idolatrado, mas que não passa de uma tentativa falhada. Será que a rede de distribuição foi instruída para idolatrar a queda de um anjo?

The market like to create hype when there is no reason for that. It's like those waves of prediction that confirms the inevitable that will never exist. This one is made from a blend of Viosinho, Rabigato, Verdelho, Arinto and Moscatel Galego

Aromas are very light, some tropical fruit. It's just like an Alvarinho.

Light body, slightly dry, lacks vigor. In the beginning there is some tropical fruit and in the end it's just like pure lemon juice. It's fresh and full of essences.

Palmeira e Voltas 2012 Branco

Por a mão (ou melhor a boca) num vinho de mesa Madeirense é normalmente uma experiência única. Feito de Arnsburger, Verdelho e Malvasia fina.

Aromas tropicais e gelo do ártico. Cheio de maracujá.

Na boca é penetrante, vivo, carregado maracujá, manga, pêssego, e mel silvestre, é muito balanceado e focado, cheio, gordo e seco. Cola-se à língua, repara a boca e as gengivas.

Final médio.

Brilhante.

Puting your hands in a Madeira table wine is always a dam of experience. Made from a blend of Feito de Arnsburger, Verdelho and Malvasia fina.

Full of tropical aromas and arctic ice. Plenty of passion fruit.

In the mouth is penetrating, alive, load with passion fruit, mango, peach and wild honey. Very balanced and sharp, full, fat and dry. It glues to the tongue and curate your gums.

Medium finish.

Quinta das Bageiras 2011 Bruto Rosé

Cor salmão, tal como encontramos no peixe cortado aos pedaços no supermercado.

De aromas não há grande história. Sente-se o gás das borbulhas.

Muito bom volume de boca, opulento, cresce na boca, com muita estrutura, seco como as palhas, a multi-mineral . Sabe a cereja muito lá fundo. Fresquíssimo.

Final médio.

Salmon color like the fish cut in pices in the suppermaket.

There are no aromas to feel. Only the gas from the bubbles.

Very good volume in the mouth. fat, it grows and have volume, lot's of structure, still, very dry and mineral. There are some cherries hidden underneath. Very fresh indeed.

Malo Tojo Reserva Platinum 2008 Branco

Feito a partir de Arinto e Chardonnay.

Cor amarela saturada.

Aromas a manteiga e a fruto de caroço, algum limão, aromático e perfumado.

Na boca é seco, intenso, cortante, químico, muita fruta para além do maduro, mas sem açúcar. Também por lá anda resina. Tem vida, presença e personalidade.

Final médio.

Saturated yellow color.

In the aroma palette there is butter, stone fruit and lemon it's aromatic.

In the mouth is dry, intense, cuts like a knife, chemical, lot's of fruit beyond ripe state but without sugar. Some resin is also present. It have life, presence and character.

Medium finish.

Quinta de Ramozeiros 2008 Tinto

Volta à mesa um vinho que não lhe punha a vista em cima há mais de uma mão cheia de anos.
Feito a partir de Touriga franca, Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz e Tinta Barroca.

Gordo no aroma: fruta madura, madeira e baunilha.

Na boca nota-se estrutura, seca um pouco no inicio, tem fruta madura que não caminha para o doce e vai-se sendo dominado pela madeira pela qual o vinho pareceu ter ser filtrado e acaba com alguma baunilha tipo rebuçado.

Final médio e especiado.

Tinto fácil de beber. Vai bem com os assados.

Back to table a wine that does not put my eyes on more than a handful of years. Made from Touriga Franca, Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz and Tinta Barroca.

Fat aroma: ripe fruit, oak and vanilla.

In the mouth it's structured, a bit dry at first, noticed ripe fruit that does not go for the sweet side. Oak character the wine seemed to be filtered by it and ends with some vanilla candy flavor.

Spicy medium finish.

Easy to drink. Pairs perfectly with roast meat.

Casa da Passarella o Enologo 2012 Branco

A história do contra-rotulo é hilariante e apresenta o irmão de um produtor de vinhos que tudo fez para tornar os vinhos mais ousados, vanguardistas em vez de conservadores e corretos. Ora, com tal historia, este vinho prometia e muito.

Aroma a maracujá e sumo de limão. Super aromático e focado.

Na boca é seco, salgado, como um espelho do nariz: maracujá e limão. Está tudo ainda muito jovem. Podia ter mais acidez. Tem um estilo fina flor. Leve mas afinado.

Final longo e persistente.

Bolas! Estava à espera de algo contra a corrente, fora do vulgar, mas infelizmente apenas saiu um vinho bom para peixinho.

The story in the back label is hilarious, it states that a brother of a wine producer made everything to change the wines the other brother meant to deliver: different, against the odds, ahead of the curve. This wine promised a lot.

Aromas full of passion fruit and lemon. Very focused and aromatic.

In the mouth is dry, salty is like a mirror of the nose: passion fruit and lemon. It's still very infant stage. it could have more acidity. It has a profile of the finest and delicate flowers. Light but very sharp.

Long and persistent finish.

Dam it!  I was waiting something out of the box, but it just came out to be a very interesting wine to pair with fish!
