Borgogno Barbera d’Alba Superiore 2016

Fragrant, deep aroma, flowers, many ripe black fruit.

Light character, makes us forget those heavy stuffed wines. It have wings of its own. Touches with some vanilla hints, turns into peppery land with plum and blackberry, ending with some vanilla flowers.

Ratting: ★★★★☆

Coriole Barbera 2017

So many things in the nose. Flowers, raisins, some fig, anise, earth & soil.

Slightly dark character, compact, chocolate hints, some cherries, raisins, some other fruits in the mix  and black pepper. When you start drinking you already know what will fall through the gut and it is magical.

Too bad it's still young. It's worth being rebel or it's worth being senior and aged? That is what the producer needs to find out.

Pó de Poeira 2017

Some years passed since I tasted the 2006 vintage and I was curious how it holds to first time I braced it for impact.

Steaming aromas, some fresh wood, vanilla and raspberry.

Structured, spicy, ripe, youthful fruit ending with some hints of smoke. I like the momentum, the heart of the liquid, the addiction it brings. A good choice to pair with noble red meat.

Coriole Sangiovese 2016

Aromas with red fruits, vaporized in a slow steaming.

Fresh, very vibrant, spicy and red fruit hot, it penetrates into the cheeks. It is slightly addictive due good proportion between medium body and being bold in fruit concentration with some flower notes flying.

Tapanappa Pinot Noir 2017

Chemical aromas, candied vanilla and some smoke from toasted wood.

Spicy with black pepper. I can also feel orange! How! It really has immersed orange, blended with anise, wood and an underneath sense of earth that adds freshness.

This is not the typical Pinot Noir. It is a deviation for the purists, but I don't mind, I like it this way.

Framingham F-Series Riesling 2013

South Africa wines can turn out to be not for the open mindset wine lovers. I learn over the period I lived there they twist some classical wine making into something unique, still, far away from the codes and standards of the French (that drive them crazy as I perceived in some events). Swartland is the land of the rebels, makes me remember the Portuguese Luis Pato, that were right into the target of making craft wines, leaving a persistence loving memory.

This F-series is from a producer in New Zealand that has the moto to go against ordinary. Can a screwcap 2013 Riesling beat the others. Yes it can!

Mineral, unripe stone fruit, has some tutti fruity mixed summer fruits in the aromas.

Balsamic, with fruit candies, mega concentration of sweet pineapple, so beautiful, curls in the mouth. I wonder it's strength and vigor.

Just bring me more, please. Highly recommended.

Monte da Peceguina 2013

Drank this one in Singapore for 3 times of the price that cost in my home country. Homesick oblige.

Lemon, pineapple and melon in the aromas. You can feel the summer.

Dry, moisturizing, itch the tongue. Pineapple on the front, lemon and tea leaves. Very swirled, balsamic, like those expensive German candies to clean the throat.

Terral 2012

Made from a blend of Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot.

Black fruits in the aromas, some raisins as well and oak.

It has an immense freshness with light spice hidden underneath. Very concentrated, it carries the impact to the back of the throat, some anise, berries and raisins. It's easy to enjoy.

Thomas Haag Schloss Lieser Riesling 2016

Aromas of tea leaves, something sweet and candy, honey with a lime slice in the background.

Crunchy, light, fresh, intense, crystalline. It blows my palate. Summer fruit with half sweetness, botanics like gin and cantaloupe.

Vidigueira Grande Escolha 2014

9 years ago - time moves fast - I discovered this wine and it was always part of my favorites. Rediscover it again was one my objectives during a short stay in Portugal.

Made with a blend of Antão Vaz and Perrum.

Mineral character, some ripe fruit and fruit pulp.

In the mouth I can feel dried pineapple, some apricot, hints of pear and lemon. Despite it is slightly dry, it is tense and alive and it kicks it in a so lovely manner. Still a favorite, still affordable still so high value for the price.

Nebbiolo Valmaggiore 2014

Made from Nebbiolo that struck me. Is it a table wine or is it an LBV Port?

Oak cask, anise, black fruit and smoke in the aromas.

Slightly dry, opaque, smoked, plum and blackberry fruits, pinch of pepper and chocolate powder. Perfect to eat with a fillet steak.

Pazo Senorans Albarino 2017

Lemon, quartz, peach in the aromas.

Roller coaster of flavor. Peach on the front with lemon to give freshness. It has an imposing spine, grows, refreshes and tones. Finish like a light lemonade. Ends long in full bloom.

Cistus Reserva 2013

Made from a blend of Tinta Roriz, Touriga Nacional and Touriga Franca.

Smoked wood, plum and raisins in the aromas.

Results bodied in the mouth, but with harmony and grace. Vanilla with plum upfront dragging with some bites of berries. It is highly enjoyable.

Ponte das Canas 2014

Made from a blend of Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca and Syrah. Some aniseed, toasted wood and vanilla blend in the aromas.

Spiky, majority of black fruit with the sweetness of vanilla combined with some chocolate hints and spice. It swells, dilates and lingers after it ends.
